Two Teams. One Standard. One Mission. INVST has acquired McMillan.

INVST & McMillan

Why McMillan

Larry McMillan didn't just learn options... he defined how a generation of investors understands them. His book, Options as a Strategic Investment, has sold over 300,000 copies and is widely considered a definitive guide on derivatives. Larry has been trading since the early 1970s, ran the Equity Arbitrage desk at a major Wall Street brokerage for nine years, and has spent the decades since building McMillan Asset Management around one idea -  a repeatable, rules-based, research-intensive approach to risk that removes emotion from the equation.

That idea is the whole reason this makes sense.

Why This, Why Now

We didn't acquire a firm because we needed a product to sell. We acquired McMillan because we found a team that already believes what we believe:

  • Discipline over speculation. A rules-based process, applied consistently, in various market environments.
  • Mastery over trend-chasing. Real expertise, built over decades — not a strategy of the month.
  • Clients over transactions. Individually managed accounts, transparent fee structures, and aligned incentives. That's the same standard INVST was built on. Our founder, Scott Jarred, started this firm because he watched the industry put products ahead of people, and decided to build something different: a true fiduciary practice, guided by the client's well-being and not a sales target.

What This Means for You

McMillan Asset Management is now an integrated part of our investment team at INVST, under one fiduciary care standard and one team. That means:

  • More depth. Sophisticated options and risk-aware strategies, previously available only through a specialized firm, now sit alongside your existing INVST relationship. You are now supported by the reach, resources, and full-service planning of a fiduciary firm serving clients across the US.
  • More access. Whether you're a business owner managing concentrated stock risk, a family building toward retirement, or simply curious about how options fit into a broader plan, your advisor can now bring that expertise directly into your conversation.
  • Zero disruption to what you already have. Your advisor, your plan, and your INVST4Life™ process continue as they are. This is an addition to your team, not a change to your relationship.

Built the Same Way, From Different Starting Points

Two firms. Two founders. One shared belief: that expertise means nothing without integrity, and integrity means nothing if it doesn't put the client first... with transparency and an unwavering commitment to our fiduciary duty.

Our shared ethics and expertise of both firms, the history of already collaborating together to help our clients, and the ability to go to market with an enhanced level of combined resources and innovation was the biggest reason. We feel confident that this acquisition will continue to help our clients in new and exciting ways, with a continued focus on trust, open communication, hard work, and understanding your Why.
